1st Nibley Music Festival

These photos were all taken at the first Nibley Music Festival, Saturday 14 July 2007. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a huge success, especially you for coming.

Pete Taylor

A 27 year old singer songwriter living in Dursley, writing and performing contemporary acoustic folk rock. He recently won the 2007 BBC Folk Quest solo performer competition.

Lucy Hellier

Lucy is a true Nibblyite who wrote her first song while gazing out of her window into the depths of Westridge Woods aged 16. Now based in Bristol, Lucy spends much of her time playing keyboard and catawauling with Cohaagen, a rock band perhaps best described as the deformed love child of Lemmy and Gaz Coombes from Supergrass. Her acoustic songs are a decidedly more mellow affair, with an impassioned and autobiographical slant. Expect guest apperances by other local musicians.

Pigs Might Fly

They formed in 1991 in Bristol, but now tend to play the pubs and clubs of Gloucestershire. Pete's energetic guitar playing and forceful vocals together with Liz's beautiful flute lines and Karen's driving bodhran make for an interesting and exciting mixture. The instruments are acoustic, but the delivery and the choice of material provide a harder edge. The music is a blend of rock, blues, folk and original material.

Treefrogs

A three-piece group from Herefordshire playing a range of material, some self-penned, embracing the ballad, folk and blues idioms. You're likely to be reminded of, amongst others, Planxty, John Lee Hooker, Woodie Guthrie, Canned Heat and Cole Porter. Instruments include guitars, banjo, Northumbrian pipes, whistles, congas and various percussion items.

TWiG

An acoustic set from this young Dursley-based guitar band formerly known as Tainted With Glory. In the two years they have been together they have played gigs in London and closer to home at Berkeley Castle.

Wilcox & Brooks

In his latest project, Brian (ex The Chill) teams up with a new guitarist to play original material and interesting covers. Over the last year they have made many popular appearances at pubs and festivals in the southwest.

Big John

Exciting Indie/pop four-piece from Newport. They play regularly in Cardiff and are currently promoting their new album.

Macaroni Penguins

Their storming two hour set at the 2006 Frocester Beer Festival was widely regarded as the best performance of the weekend. A distinctive mix of New Wave and Rocking Blues is delivered with style and energy and is designed to get people dancing.
